"Stop Selling!"

Years ago a District Sales Manager suggested I could be a better sales person than I was. Being young and full of confidence I was hesitant to ask him what he meant.
When I finally asked, he said "stop selling." He went on to say "Your job is not to sell anything, you job is to help your customer make an informed purchasing decision."
This sales tip has influenced my sales philosophy ever since.
